Evening. We have indeed been in touch with Mark Beaumont! Very helpful. Here is a link of the STV news feature on the expedition for those interested. Cheers.

Thanks Pan-Andeans. I didn't discuss gearing on these trikes. Assume that they'll be 27 speed but slanted towards the low end. Some delta trikes have differentials to make sure drive goes to both wheels.

Forum set up by chdot (maybe meant 'post')... any cycling related topic discussed. Not that many recumbent riders anywhere.

Have you asked Mark Beaumont for advice? He's done silly-distance in silly-remote so I'd say that's a sleeve worth tugging.

Thanks again for setting up this forum LaidBack. Would really appreciate any advice from experienced recumbent users or useful tips for long-distance touring. Cheers, The Pan-Andean Challenge

Everyone knows that recumbent trike riding is easy but what about using a sail assisted delta trike (away from overhead power lines!).

This is link to two guys using pedal and sail power to go across the Andes.

Can it be done - obviously pedal power is main thing I would think but I could be wrong? Machines are called Whikes and have been on the forum here before.

Going to be mentioned on STV tonight at 6 (or is that ITN?). Anyway had Joe from the team looking for advice on luggage. The trikes are a bit like the Hase Kett delta trike design so maybe Hase can get bags for them.
