agreed on weather

last week dawn was at 8.30 but dusk was five minutes later because of very heavy rain clouds. Fortunately dawn happened a bit later on in the morning again.

Of course solar observations only really apply if you are above the clouds. For those of us who dwell on the surface weather make a far greater difference than the sun setting a few seconds/minutes earlier.

My hypothesis is that this week will seem lighter earlier in the morning and darker later in the evening than last week despite sunrise continuing to get later.

Something to do with solar noon time and the sun's declination...

For reasons I don't pretend to understand, the sunset stops getting earlier about a week before the solstice but the sunrise continue to get later. This never makes any sense to me but I assume there is a perfectly good astronomical explanation.

I had it in my head that the evenings would start getting lighter from tomorrow, but perhaps we've already passed that landmark.
