Rapha do a cyclo cross specific long sleeve Jersey Gray with an argyle band. Less merino than other tops. Has a shoulder pad for when the bike is carried. Currently half price in their sale (£55). All sizes still for sale which is odd.

I can imagine the kids getting bored after a while. Taking part, one of the joys is the fact that there are riders all over the place, so unlike, say, getting dropped on a road ride, if you're slow (like I am) you don't feel like you're riding on your own. The more races you watch it gets easier to tell what's going on (it's a bit like cricket that way... sort of...).

The top 4 were on some kind of mission yesterday. Just stunning efforts, but right down the field, even to the slowest, it's all about riding to your maximum, so really everyone is putting the same effort in, just some get more out for it.

Fox Lake on the 24th promises a couple of good races (there's an A and a B, I'm riding in B), on a nice course (in and out of wooded areas, I'd suggest it was a bit more interesting than the Bo'ness course, though it's a good 'un).

The racing was really good at the front of the field and as I know a fair few of the riders it was enjoyable for me to see how they were all getting on. The top 4 guys were absolutely beasting it with some great performances and acting up for the crowd which is what CX is all about! Very enjoyable day, even if I did cycle out and therefore was stood freezing in my roadie lycras!

A chilly day out...

Kids enjoyed it... to a point. To start with it was clear who was in front but after 20mins there was a mixture of fast and slow riders all over the place.

There was quite a difference in speeds. I recognised someone from work who is much faster than me (on the road) who was near the back of the field, so the front must have been super quick.

I have to admit we didn't stay to the end and went off to climb Cockleroy Hill and the excellent playpark at Beecraigs.

Drat, missed this. Had to go up to Oban to pick up my brother and some stuff he didn't want to leave at work.

Got a family thing on the 24th too, things aren't going well for my CX spectating this year though judging by my flickr folk are looking for them selves.

Took part last year, but taking photos this. I know the guys who organise this, and it's a credit to them just how big this event is - it has sold out in minutes online the last couple of years. Great event, loads of stalls, and get there early enough and you can get one of the 100 or so free cowbells to make even more noise.

24th January there's another event at Foxlake near Dunabr. Two races at that one, superb course. Will be riding in the B race there.

Thinking of taking the mini-chiefs to this tomorrow.

linkee

Anyone here taking part?

I see there is a prize for the noisiest supporters, so looking for someone to cheer on.

(Although part of me thinks we should just have a sign saying "Go on Grandma" to freak people out)
