@dougal No, it's not quite that. Cycling infra cash has never (to our knowledge) included bus shelters.

There is one exception, which was basically an error by Govt Finance Cab secretary John Swinney MSP when he told Parliament that £10m was for cycling & walking infra when in fact it had already been announced months before that £5m of that was for 'Smarter Choices'. He, or whoever wrote his speech, seemed to have forgotten that!

Anyway, that 'smarter choices' £5m active travel cash from the govt came with a clear stipulation that it could NOT be used for cycling or walking infra, but on close inspection of the detailed rules it can be used for bus shelters.

Furthermore, not only is that £5m not for infra, but it is also not just for cycling & walking - it is to encourage 'smarter choices' for any form of sustainable transport, e.g. to encourage people to go by bus or to car share.

We have no problem with the govt spending on encouraging modal shift to buses etc, building bus shelters etc, but NOT with money originally announced for walking & cycling, and then re-announced (inaccurately) for walking & cycling infra!

Full story here.

I think in the past Spokes have complained/noted that "cycling and walking infra" seems to include bus stops, which are neither of these things and tend to get in the way of both.

The "quote" markup doesn't work very well.
I just tend to put quotes into italics (I)
Thus:
[ i ]italics [ /i ]
(with spaces so you can see the markup)

[/quote to support cycling and walking infrastructure/ sounds dubious. Shared paths?

SRD - the SG press release states "£3.9m to support cycling and walking infrastructure". I can't find anything more definitive than that at the moment.

Spokes is reporting that John Swinney has just magicked up an extra £4m for cycling. which at least means spending not decreasing.

but is it 'infra' money? or soft measures?
