Lizzie, the first bit of daveC's route is part of the round the forth route so there is a map and some sign posts at times. I have done the Grangemouth section several times now, often from polmont train station which is a nice downhill, also from the canal. The sustrans route sends you way off the canala and then back on to it in quite a loss of height.

Grangemouth not pretty and the signage slightly erratic

Hi DaveC thats brilliant thanks. Yes there are probs more scenic routes. But I agree with you..this route probs would be fine outside of rush hour traffic.

Dunno. If I were cycling I would take the road put of Bo ness to Grangemouth and take the first right into the industrial area. Follow that rd over the next rbout and over the railway bridge before taking the 3rd exit towards Kincardine bridge. Then at the main rd turn right and immediately left at the canal. This will take you under the motorway to the Kelpies.

I am sure someone may have a more senic route but I have cycled this route a few times and its light on traffic outside rush hours.
