@Kaputnik; should this 'near miss' not be under thread 'Random Carnage'? You could fill out a RIDDOR report for it and send in to HSE?
ps spent yesterday evening being 'raced' by various wobbly 'student types' along Potterrow to Mayfield (as this is the KB feeder route). Anything low seems to be a 'challenge' for others to face off! The taxis love threatening you on this stretch as well, if you are below their indicator lens height! At least I can tank them all on the 'standing starts'!

kaputnik - was it a student trying weed for the first time and going out cycling - the right sort of territory and the time of year for people learning how to cross roads, walk etc on their own for the first time, the giggling also indicative

To the dozy idiot who spontaneously decided to try a 3-point turn across the Bruntsfield Links cycle lane.

Don't

You almost took out the 6 cyclists heading uphill behind you, including the guy who your obliviously meandering riding style had forced into the pedestrian lane.

You very narrowly avoided being given an intimate encounter with the tarmac by the 2 bikes heading downhill (myself included on a bigger and heavier and stornger bike) who nearly T-boned you.

And when you're asked "what the EXPLETIVE you think you're doing?", "sorry" is a more appropriate response than "going back downhill" and giggling.

Next time I might not be able to - or inclined to - stop.

So ends this public service announcement.
