Granton a far more attractive then some site near the airport. I'm all for high tech industries to diversify our economics in Edinburgh away from finance, but a neo Edinburgh Park fills me with horror.

"a lot can be done in as little as 32 years."

I find much to agree with in your wry comment.

However I note that Oxgangs, Wester Hailes, Sighthill, Saughton, Pilton, Muirhouse, Craigmillar, Bingham, Northfield are still waiting for their museums and galleries after more than 32 years. Sometimes these things take a little longer, perhaps. Or maybe they're behind the queue with the likes of East Craigs, Gilmerton, Gracemount, Drylaw, South Gyle, Newcraighall and Millerhill being in pole position for the imminent construction of museums and galleries. Coming soon to a residential area near you!

Houses, yes maybe, but museums, galleries and community hubs (plural)? They can't even manage to get contractors to install passable playpark when new housing goes in.

“

Let’s start with some great news for the city: the council has managed to purchase the former National Grid site in Granton – opening the door to fantastic opportunities for much-needed new housing.

Under current proposals, we will deliver around 4,000 houses, alongside museums, galleries, community hubs and much more – providing long overdue regeneration to the north of the city.

The BBC has also regurgitated this. Shows one of the shortcomings of inferring too much from a postcode district; yes EH7 is Bellevue but equally it's the south end of Leith and as far east as Meadowbank.

Royal Mail said the study, conducted by the Centre for Economic and Business Research, looked at green spaces, affordable housing and commuting times.

The "survey" is probably being defeated by these postcodes which have lots of "nice" places to live, good greenspaces and yet also lots of cheaper housing stock and are also close to town. EH5 and EH7 both tick that by spanning a big range of demographics and housing types and have good access to the city centres.

Has the EEN finally just resorted to regurgitating all press releases that cross its front door??

Whether they include Trinity, Inverleith or whatever, it still looks like a press release dressed up as a survey - Royal Mail probably got their own operatives to fulfil it........

Well that photo is at least 11 years old with that gas holder in it!

EH5 does notionally cover the old parish of Granton (which was outwith the Burgh of Edinburgh until 1920).

You'd think the person copying/pasting the Royal Mail's press release might have had the local nouse to determine the difference between Pilton and Granton from Inverleith and Trinity.
