&#60;p&#62;It's a &#34;30mph&#34; road, with the quotes implying speeds closer to 40 because of the width and visibility distance.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;From the GoBike article I think it's just to try out a number of different styles of soft segregation and seek feedback. I don't imagine there's been any assessment of cycle traffic load.

&#60;p&#62;However, it's better than the vertical-edged concrete dividers that we have elsewhere, which vehicles can just drive over and which reduce the width of the cyclelane considerably. With appropriate spacing, you could also merge right out of the cyclelane into traffic if you need to turn right (because there's no way junctions will be well thought out).&#60;/p&#62;
