On the last PBP the wind changed around Brest so I didn't experience any headwinds. Very nice (and probably explains why ever since, I always get a headwind!)

At least when you are going uphill.

I seem to remember that one of the Monster Raving Loony Party's polices was tailwinds for cyclists. I am not sure how they planned to implement it if they ever got into power.

I'm going to be doing laps of arthurs seat at lunch, I imagine I'll have headwind at some point, unless something horrific happens above Edinburgh!

Some sort of localised vortex?

A once in a lifetime experience perhaps. Unless your name is davey2wheels apparently! :-P

In that case maybe it will happen to me someday? That and winning the Premium Bonds.

I remember an amazing ride to Aberdeen where the wind started off from the east blowing me over the bridge towards perth then gradually swung behind me to blow me up and over glenshee (recording my fastest ever speed on bike 90 ish kmph on decent) and then swung around again to the west to blow me down the Dee to Aberdeen. Total ride time was something ridiculous and well under 12 hours (I set off at 5am and got the 5pm train back)

IT was amazing. Never happened since mind...

@gembo, I am one of those lucky bleeders. Long may it keep happening.

Ah, so double tailwinds only ever happen to other people? Makes sense..

Never happened to me but the wind has been easterly a.m. And westerly p.m most of this week giving those doing the opposite commute to me double tailwinds. Lucky bleeders.

Spotted this on Road cc and thought it looked like fun. It is sport-cycling centric, but then it would be.

http://road.cc/content/feature/143889-15-things-every-cyclist-loves

Very, very occasionally the wind will change direction during a ride and you’ll get a tailwind on the way out and a tailwind on the way back.

Has this ever happened to anyone? I have had a double headwind many times.

I would add very short errands. I don't normally bother getting my bike out for anything less than a couple of miles but when I do the time saving is pretty awesome. I think not doing it that often makes me appreciate it more.
