The figures quoted are confusing: total revenue does not necessarily mean surplus over expenditure or 'profit'.</p> <p>The fact that Edinburgh's revenue from parking charges equals half the surplus/profit for Scotland is, while interesting, not quite what the headline says. And every Bank Holiday, without fail, the parking officers arrive at 3.59pm to start doling out tickets. Sure that sort of ting drives it up. Also a LOT of people out and about yesterday who clearly didn't realise that the parking attendants were working yesterday!
