The slopes on the Rocheid path are milder and less twisty than the Warriston Crescent WoL access, though every time I go along that bit I try and remind myself to go along Inverleith Terrace the next time as there are fewer earbud-insulated multiple dog-wielders.

"Going down Eildon Street rather than Warriston Crescent skips quite a steep and turny slope."

True.

Means a slightly longer section on the 'main' road (Inverleith Row, past the Botanics).

Or, as I think the Family Network signs, push along the pavement!

The main thing I find confusing is that in some places there are multiple routes / NEPN options. But they all go the same place in the end.

The alternate routes are mainly for walkers though and involve stairs, so sticking to the bike route should be obvious enough (one particularly tricky bit was closed when we were there over the summer anyhow, so you had to follow bike route)

This is probably the most straightforward way following quite a lot of the WoL.

http://m.cyclestreets.net/journey/#46070512/balanced

Probably signposted the whole way on this route.

http://Edinburgh.cyclestreets.net has iOS and Android apps.

Obvious question alert!

I am planning on taking the WoL to Leith, joining near Murrayfield, and I just wondered how continuous/easy to follow it is? Does it deviate from the Water much? Is it well signposted? Would a map be needed and, if so, which would be best? Any cycling apps that would help?

Thank you!
