If Police Scotland really want to protect vulnerable road users they should get out on bikes and start ticketing bad driving.</p> <p>They wouldn't even have to do it often, just spread the word that they are doing it on a regular basis. I feel that 3 ft isn't enough in general, and only safe in very slow moving traffic. I recall seeing (UK) advice that cars should pass cyclists leaving enough room that if they fell off sideways, the cars would miss them. That's nearer 5 or 6 ft. Is that advice in the HC?</p> <p>Also interesting that all 5 comments in the article were sympathetic to the cyclists.
