Judging by the map, this development would double the size of Currie.

Although, I live in a development that probably quadrupled the size of Currie in the 60s.

Another PAN in for area to north of Currie. So that makes 2k homes on a road that is so narrow in places it doesn't actually have a full set of continuous pavements.

15/05258/PAN | Residential development of around 1,500 homes with a community hub (containing various neighbourhood facilities), a hotel, non-denominational primary school and associated infrastructure including new access and roads, improved access to public transport, extended rail station car parking, flood mitigation measures, landscaping, sports pitches and green networks. | Land 300 Metres North And South Of 2 Malcolmstone Farm Cottages Long Dalmahoy Road Edinburgh

Of course, all these big planning applications have been submitted in the run-up to Christmas.

The developers knowing full well that many people (including the planning officers) will be busy and may overlook things, or forget to object, etc.

Crafty. And mean.

Shawfair is just around the corner, with much better public transport and entirely pleasant cycling distance to the ERI using the fledgling almost useful network of <strike>cycle tracks</strike> wide footpaths through unpopulated areas.

I could almost see another 'bubble' development being a barrier to active ERI commuting from further afield.

The 770 houses + school at Edmonstone/Little France proposes covering almost the whole site with housing, with no other facilities (except the school).

As most of the area is more than walking distance from shops, bus routes etc., residents will be expected to use cars to get everywhere...

There's already three housing developments underway at the moment in Currie, all adding to the traffic on Lanark Road.

360 properties in the 2 Balerno developments. Can't see any reference to how many parking spaces would be created, but I'm guessing around the 500 mark.

Genuinely don't know how the Lanark Road is supposed to absorb another 200-odd cars per rush hour (unless all the new houses are bought by tele- or bus- or cycle- commuters...).
