"Worst bit though for me is the bit just past the bus stop (going edin to fife)"

It's unfortunate that that is the exact point where the leaves seem to cover 80% of the path too which would make any sudden braking an interesting experience.

dropped kerb on edin to fife in the dark is difficult to spot...unless...look for the speed limit sign...i'm pretty sure it is right below it about 20/30 yards from loch

I also have been caught in that A90 waterfall! I just laugh after it as I treat it like a bit of a lottery as I cycle towards it...will I be lucky or not...haha

The vanes to shield from the oncoming lights are just not high enough to be effective.

I thought this when they went up that that they were just 'standard' vanes. I would say I sit pretty high on the bike and have to really crouch to make them effective.

Worst bit though for me is the bit just past the bus stop (going edin to fife). I literally can't see a damn thing and just ride blindly along...

Wrong info re the A90 path. No lighting scheduled. Feel free to nag your councillors/cycling@edinburgh.gov.uk about it. It's really that an important piece of commuting cycle route like that is not properly lit.

Assuming it's actual functional lighting rather than LED studs then I'll be a very happy man when that happens.

I wouldn't normally advise this, but you can hop onto the pavement at the dropped kerb slightly before said loch and avoid a soaking.

what river, I've only seen a lake...

It's been there in bad weather for years, but nothing seems to be done. Have had both pedals submerged on more than one occasion

The City of Edinburgh Council has said it will fix the lighting by the end of the financial years. They have had staff shortages.

I've never understood why the vanes were never installed on the higher section from Burnshot. Seems pointless to only have half the path 'protected' That said, I'm 6ft1 and have to be right down on the drops for the existing vanes to be of any use.

Heading south in the evening means that the car's lights are almost blocked for me in the evenings, although as they are on the other side of the road they were never really an issue. I can see that heading the other way would be more of an issue though and I'm sure will be once the morning are dark too.

The vanes probably do more to protect drivers from the bike lights than the other way around.

Have to be honest and say I have been disappointed with the A90 path in the dark- there are pitch black sections and the variation between this and car headlights brighter than ever is difficult to switch between. The vanes to shield from the oncoming lights are just not high enough to be effective.

Where do you clear it to though? Sweep it to the side and it will just blow back.

I think it's been discussed elsewhere too, but where do you draw the over how much is too much

The Combined length of A90 and East Craigs paths would be over a mile of sweeping, definitely too much for me to consider.

So it's Edinburgh Council & not West Lothian?

There's a stretch of slime on my short commute. I suppose I should just take a (small) broom and do it myself. Like clearing your pavement of snow.

I reported the leaves via fix my street a couple of weeks ago.

https://www.fixmystreet.com/report/712042

However the council seems to have decided against any sort of leaf tidying this year. The paths around East Craigs have dissappeared under a layer of slime.
