There are several very odd things about this story. First it is very one sided. Second, there is a lot of detail about what 'the cyclist' was wearing and his appearance, but the victims were unable to say in which direction the cyclist took off. Third, although the 'assault' took place on Tuesday, it wasn't reported until Friday. Fourth, why and how would a cyclist punch a rear seat passenger: was the window open, did one of them open the door? What was the trigger to the incident? How did this 'alteration' take place from the back of a taxi? There is more of this story to emerge.

@gembo I stand corrected. Despite reading the article twice and looking for a gender, I missed that.

Male. The article says "he was of slim build with a local accent"

All just happening a little south of the river.

The article also suggesting that one of the passengers and the cyclist had an altercation. Passenger got bopped and then so did the driver. All very naughty.

Replace 'cyclist' in the article with your racist epithet of choice and you'll see that it works just as well.

Taxi driver has cheek and nose broken by cyclist in Govanhill

Interestingly, at no point in the article does it say whether the 'cyclist' was male or female, which would have helped considerably to identify them. They were wearing a 'cycling suit' though, so that makes up for it.

I think we should be campaigning for the BBC to use the wording 'person on a bicycle' rather than 'cyclist', because the phrasing of this article means that every 'cyclist' is assumed by the 'In Group' to assault taxi drivers.
