Fair enough. Probably true of most city driving too (scarily?)

That's undoubtedly true but my comment was specifically aimed at the picture of the what I take to be stationary traffic on a freeway. Other than running the aircon at full blast and a few blaring radios they're unlikely to be making much noise.

I'm fairly sure the roar I can hear from the bypass when I'm halfway up the Pentlands is the tyres and not the engines.

The dangerous thing about toxic polution from most cars is that's it invisible. What the picture doesn't tell you is that in the middle of the bottom road you can hear birdsong and smell freshly cut grass in the park alongside. OK electric cars may not be perfect but they are (in my eyes) hugely preferable to the alternative.

"Almost as if Sugar the driver and Sugar the cyclist were different people, he then appeared to laud dedicated cycle paths when asked whether cyclists should be ordered to use them."

See, cognitive dissonance as schizophrenia.

And Alan just took delivery of a new, custom-built Pinarello.

Mind you, the plebs can't afford to fly to the US or Spain just to ride their bike like his Lordship (who doesn't appear to ride in the UK at all).

Wr'd better start rationing space then.
Rule 1 only 1 car per household
Rule 2 cycle paths are smaller than roads so each mile of new road requires 2 miles of old road to be converted to cycle path.
