Next suggestion: Make the east pavement on Mayfield Rd from Blackbarony Rd (or at least from the end of the bike lane markings) to Kirk Brae up to the Fire station a shared pavement, and convert the pedestrian lights to toucan.

In dense traffic it's just horrible to cycle this on the road, as you get plenty of tailgating and close passes at speed.

The pavement normally isn't too busy, there are not many pedestrians to start with and most walk on the other side as it's somewhat more convenient.

Darwin Building: I wonder if it was possible to create a pedestrian/cycle entrance from Mayfield Road just North of Braidburn Inn that connects to the road behind Darwin.

Cycling up Mayfield Road to Max Born Crescent is terrible at rush hour: uphills, fast traffic, parked cars and damaged surface in the "quality (haha!) bike corridor".

This connection would enable people who go into KB to avoid this bit of road, and those going on towards Blackford Avenue coiuld more easily cycle through the campus than along Mayfield Rd/West Mains Rd
