There was a coach there on Friday Morning too, though I can't recall the company.

Report it to the council maybe? They take an interest if there's a chance of damage to the kerbs or pavement.

@Murun given the weight of a coach (c. 12tonnes unladen) that's probably actually an offence under existing S19 RTA legislation that the police can but don't enforce.

Saw a doozy this morning - an entire Park's of Hamilton coach parked entirely on the pavement outside the Holiday Inn on Picardy Place. Absolutely ridiculous.

This morning, on Granville terrace, red compact car totally filling the pavement on a school route at 8.40am outside one of the B&Bs. 4 young lads hanging about it smoking. Wish I'd had time to get a picture/say something to them. It's 'normal' for them to be half on the pavement, but this was totally blocking everyone - and pavement was busy.

If the vehicle is completely blocking the pavement you can report it to the police. Don't expect them to do anything - "Not a priority"

If the vehicle is on double yellows, or on a single within the prohibited time - could try phoning the council and asking for the parking enforcement team. They have a special enforcement request number you can call. Again, don't expect anything.

If the vehicle is on the pavement but there's no parking restrictions - nothing can be done.

Best option is to take photos and to tweet them to SWD. Even better if you can take a photo with a pram or wheelchair in it being blocked.

If blocking a dropped kerb, again take photos, tweet to @disabledgo with the hashtag #dontblockthedrop

If it happens in same place try emailing the areas councillors.

There is a great twitter account that is doing a great job of naming and shaming businesses that act like this. https://twitter.com/ScoWorstDrivers

Report it to the police as an obstruction. If there are yellow lines then report it to the parking enforcers - as the parking restrictions apply to "the road" - which includes the footway.

Can't guarantee success - the police are pretty unlikely to act.

If was on the pavement then may be the double yellow lines would not be applicable as long as not hanging over.

So i was on Constitution Street earlier today and there was a white BMW (of course) parked on the pavement with dropped kerbs making it difficult to cross even for an able-bodied person like myself. Had I been out with my dad we would have had no option but to walk to the junction with Queen Charlotte Street and back down.

To make it worse, there was a note in the read window with words to the effect of "I have been told I am allowed to park in this space by [company name I can't remember] so if you have a problem take it up with them [phone number]."

The owner is obviously making a habit of this (i've seen the same car in the same place before) and the idea that a local business can somehow declare double-yellow lines to be void and the pavement to be a parking space beggars belief, so who would one contact in the first instance to try and put a stop to it?

edit: the bit of pavement in question:

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@55.9745386,-3.1672851,3a,75y,337.13h,57.94t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sDtFezgLsz5FEA6l8fY2WzQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

was a bit of a squeeze to get between the car and the big, blue planter.
