More fish oil! About as dodgy, but I must admit to occasionally dosing my own small'un with omega 3s...although not because of the claims Ben Goldacre has rubbished, but because I think fish oil is good for rounded diet, and the mackerel is not always as fvresh as I would like!

"the younger they get used to rain on their head the better"

seconded! a mum at nursery obviously felt obliged to make apologies for still bringing her kid to nursery in a buggy when kids smaller than hers walk, ride etc. she said 'i like having him in a buggy so he doesn't get wet'. i wanted to say 'he lives in scotland!' and 'waterproofs and wellies'!! But didn't. felt bad that she felt obliged to say anything, actually, but....

ok, fair enough, agree about kids not all living in Enid Blyton land, thats why I am involved with Air Cadets, I like aircraft, my son attends and we can get them exhusted of a day, walking, cycling etc. Its incredible how little opf the old ways remain, I relise that you edinburgh townies, (waits for the backlash there ! joke )dont live in the country, but we have kids in our group who were amazed when we caught rabbits and ate em !I dont know how to get everybody outside but the younger they get used to rain on their head the better. I blame computers, I blame mobile phones,I blame TV,I blame the internet, I blame the parents, I blame the thatcher goverment !!!!!!!!!!! ooops ! went a wee bit ranty there! Get kids before they want to drink buckie/meths/crack etc and they might just still love the outdoors as they get older, but it wont save them.
Seriously,I think its a simple thing, talk to kids ,they dont all bite. Some do but you get to know which ones are safe.
away now for marmalade sandwiches and lashings of ginger beer, before Kiki scoffs the lot !

"!Really is just too much !"

Yes, but sadly it's true that (many) kids aren't allowed/encouraged/taken out enough, so it's good to highlight.

Whether this product is a good idea is another matter.

I suspect the issues are more likely to be that it might show that people are not getting _enough_ time outside to get their needed levels of eg Vitamin D. There were a bunch of studies to this effect last year - although more focussed on women than kids - especially issues if people tend to be covered up, and from certain ethnic groups.

rediculous ! what happens when they have reached their dose, do they have to then be placed in a darkened room ? Explain to children, of all ages that you generally wont die when it rains and show them photos of what you did as a kid, youll never get em in !Really is just too much !
does that mean that adults can measure their daily dose and have to finish work early if you are about to exceed !
