If I lived in Copenhagen then meeting friends after work (as I'm doing tonight) would be a doddle on the bike after a few drinks, with segregated facilities and so on. But Leith Walk to Duddingston after a good swallow.... Erm... No thanks.

So it is that I'm on public transport. It's really only these times that that is the case. And the Gyle is fun to travel to.

It's all really well served from my house, but always reminds me of how much I love the bike. Normally I'd get a bus virtually from the door, change to the tram on York Place, and sardine tin it to Edinburgh Park.

This morning I juuuuuust missed the bus. So ran to an alternative stop, and just missed one there as well. The E Lothian 104 service saved me (and was quicker because fewer people are getting on and off - it also helps that it goes up Regent Road). As it stopped at Waverley Steps I decided to try the train option instead. What a joy compared to the tram! £2.70, 9 minutes journey time, slightly longer walk at the end, but offset by the speed and the fact the carriage was half empty.

I do believe that will be my combo of choice from now on for the few times I need to do it...
