You need patience and I found a clean toothbrush worked. Try on a small area before launching into a serious assault. Do this *before* you wash it as any washing will set the remaining stain permanently. I've had reasonable luck with oil &amp; grease stain devils but apparently mayonnaise will work in an emergency with chain oil. </p> <p>That's the advice for trousers, anyway - I don't know what impact it would have on a softshell jacket. Unforunately, my lock also was in the bag with oil and all. Consequence of this is I now have a nice oil stain up the side of my fluorescent Gore jacket.</p> <p>Does anyone have any tips on how to clean it out? Conscious that machine washing or scrubbing (or any normal forms of cleaning) might affect the windstoppyness or the water repellence... So I would welcome any suggestions!</p> <p>Of course, I could just leave it given it's only cosmetic? </p>
