The weight might be an issue but thats up to the user to decide if 500g will really make that much of a difference to their enjoyment whilst the extra cash might be enough to get away for a day on the train to somewhere different. </p> <p>Shimano hubs are also effectively not user serviceable, if the bearing goes on the dynamo side there are two hair thin wires which <em>will</em> be broken when the hub is dismantled so you're relying on Shimano seals being as good as they are. </p> http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/topic.php?id=16425#post-220769 Tue, 24 May 2016 06:58:52 +0000 Bigjack 220769@http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/ <p>I've been using the SP for the last couple of years and am very pleased with it.It's very light and there's no noticeable drag when the lights are on. Solid axles all.</p> <p>Reliable, no noticeable drag, can't complain. Unless you're trying to go really fast or really far in one go, I can't see a reason to pay more for the SP dynamo.</p> <p>Taylor Wheels (German bike supplies) on FleaBay has some great deals on fully built wheels with dynamo hubs. Various diameters of rim, various specs of mostly Shimano hubs.
