Yep. If any folk from the Councils roads dept. are reading, try looking at the 'bollards' thread for a few ideas on how to prevent paving slabs adjacent to roads getting all broken...

I like the 'look' of paving slabs, but yeah, tarmac is a little easier to deal with.

In any event they really should be looking at the (elephant sized and obvious) reason the slabs are being broken (as pointed out by crowriver) and, I dunno, try prevention rather than cure?

I hate those stupid paving slabs the council insist on. They fall to bits in short order after being fitted and turn into grease as soon as it rains. Why not just tarmac them?

Yeah the Picardy Place slabs are a disgrace - and also further up on Leith Street/Calton Road. All caused by lorries and vans parking up on the pavement of course. Those essential deliveries of soft drinks and beer must get through with the minimum amount of walking and carrying by drivers, you know!

BROKEN pavements have seen Rose Street and Picardy Place named as accident hotspots after more than 200 people were hurt tripping on city footpaths in the last two and a half years.
