what did the article think?

The reviewer missed the 'feel' of changing gears. Think I would too.

Efficiency wise they're not sure about Nu-vinci.
Quite a heavy bit of kit but showing signs of slimming down.
It's interesting to see that both Fallbrook and Shimano continue to develop hub gears along with the tried and tested Rohloff.
11 speed Alfine though has over 400% of range where previous hubs could only manage 314%. (apart from Rohloff which is over 500%)

That Nu-Vinci drive looks badass http://www.fallbrooktech.com/02_demo.asp Im holding out for a geared IVT/CVT but maybe a system like this is good enough without gears?

what did the article think?

I did post this in dominant bike thread...
Simpel.ch have been around for years but wondered what the forum thought of their totally kitted out approach. (apart from the prices!)

Reason is that the Wegwärts Nu-vinci infinite gear version was just reviewed in new copy of Velo Vision. But they do other 'less expensive' sorts of gearing. (Remember that these bikes come with B&M lights etc)

11 Speed Alfine with hub lights£1400

Some other interesting gearing options too - they seem to get some Shimano stuff ahead of other makes.
Not sure what people think of Shimano BR-IM80 Roller Brake the Nu-vinci one comes with. Carrera Subway 8 used these as well (Half***s)
But is a hub brake better for a 'bike of the future'?

The Simpel site is quite detailed if you like reading French or German...
Has great items like
11 vitesses, multiplication totale de 409%
So you know overall gear range you see...

STOP PRESS - Disponibilité avec Gates Carbon Drive décembre 2010 - so there you go. That's quite a modern bike I'd say. (I am not an agent for them ... they don't operate here yet)
