I requested the removal of street traders, funfairs and a scaling back of the Hogmanay cashola.

P1ssing in the wind I know, but I would prefer less crass commercialisation of our public spaces. If I want an outrageously overpriced hot dog I shall seek out some hipster eatery and purchase one. I do not require a hot dog van in Pronces Street gardens, St Andrew square nor George Street.

Edinburgh’s status as a festival city, world heritage site and visitor destination will be considered, alongside residents’ quality of life and business needs. Councillor Lesley Hinds, transport and environment leader, said: “As a capital city, Edinburgh boasts a wide range of attractive and accessible spaces in which the public can spend time and enjoy diverse and world-class events.”

Please fill in this survey about use of public space. It's quite quick.

"The Council is developing a protocol for the use of public spaces in Edinburgh’s city centre. This follows an internal review of events governance within the Council which identified the need for a clear policy statement on how these spaces are used.

Public spaces are all those that are open to the public, whether they are owned by the Council or other organisations or individuals. It has been acknowledged that having a protocol in place could help achieve a balance of use and bring greater transparency to decisions about the events and activities that take place in them."

Comment from someone:- "I've just done the survey - it's fairly quick.
In the last Q, I said that for any events, it was important that ped and cycle access through the space was maintained, free of obstruction, and clearly signed."
