Thanks Kim that's really helpful. Unfortunately the business in question have already bought the bikes, they've asked me to come in and do some training for their staff. They have got the e-assist, though the area is pretty flat in any case. Some of the staff are not at all experienced cyclists so it's going to be interesting! They are mostly going to be used on offroad cycle paths and fortunately they are in an enlightened area where this infrastructure is not festooned with stupid gates and chicanes.

Having recently ridden the Babboe Curve e-Cargo Trike at the EuroBike Show last month, it is not one that I would immediately recommend. The steering on cargo trikes is something of an acquired taste, and the tilting mechanism on the Babboe Curve exaggerates this, I suspect that it would put most users off (even though the tilt mech can be locked).

As for electric assist, if you are anywhere than is not pan flat, then I would strongly recommend e-assist. It really makes moving a loaded bike/trike a lot easier and is worth the extra cost.

Having looked at the full Babboe range on their stand at EuroBike I would say that they are well designed and built. My recommendation would be for the Babboe City Mountain Cargo Bike (hub gears are much better with e-assist than a derailleur), also disc brakes instead of roller brakes.

Also worth considering are Winther Wallaroo and the Urban Arrow (which won the Gold Award for best cargo bike, at this years EuroBike).

Personally, if was my money, I would spend it on an Urban Arrow. I am not just saying that, my company <strike>car</strike> bike is an Urban Arrow, if you would like to try it, see here.

I know there's a few on here with some cargo bike experience so I'm hoping someone can give me some feedback on these. With or without the electric motor!

Been asked to help out a nursery business that have bought a couple to transport their charges around in. I can read the manufacturers specs and watch their videos but just interested to hear any real life experiences.

Not in Edinburgh I'm afraid, before anyone starts looking forward to seeing them around.
