"maybe it is time to call the west team in"

Think so. Was there on Saturday and noticed 'vegetation' on various sections - plus the leaves are beginning pile up.

@Blueth/acsimpson

I follow Blueth's plan of going Eastbound in the bus lane.

@acsimpson, I pruned the corner at the west end of the A90 about 10 days ago, as it was really bugging me. Lots of guys going down there at speed and not necessarily slow enough to take avoiding action. Only with secateurs to remove the worst, but maybe it is time to call the west team in.

@Blueth, There has been head on collisions on the path. Thankfully the one I was involved in was at the top of the slope and low speed. Both me and the oncoming rider were holding their line on the kerb. The rider coming towards me hadn't spotted me due to the sun in their eyes. They spotted me and pulled left at the exact moment that I realised they hadn't spotted me and pulled right.

It's not just that stretch which needs a prune. The corner at the West end of the A90 stretch has some very bad sightlines despite being a gradual curve.

It's still great infrastructure thought and I would be delighted if Edinburgh built many more paths like it.

Ah, BoF mentioned a Ronde group.
Blueth, I do as you do with the bus lane. Mind you I am only there at the weekend, I don't know what it is like at commuting hours. What we really need is some way of getting round the corner without having to merge onto the dual carriageway and immediately leave it again.

The last stretch of that leading to Cramond Brig is rather narrow with blind bends and varying amounts of plant growth so I never use it on the way in, preferring to use the bus lane which I feel should be mandated for "incoming" cyclists.

People tend to pick up a bit of speed coming down there and I would find it hard to believe there has never been a head on collision on the path or that nobody has ever had to jump off the kerb to avoid such.

that path isn't wide enough to have a right or a left

the ineffectual post with the 40 limit sign on it didn't even have a reflective sticker, until i had a cuss fuss

Yes, that's the thing about shared paths, no absolute rules!

Depends what you mean by big.

I saw another similar sized one near Inverkeithing.

Both groups had people with Ronde tops, so?

In fairness, they might be in a country where using the cycle infrastructure is mandatory.

In the first pic, one of them appears to be cycling backwards. Now that's clever.

Often said about experienced cyclists willing to use the roads as they are.

Of course it has to be well designed - and go where people want to go.
