Plus the park offers other pleasant through routes, especially with wider tyres.</p> <p>On charging, they seem to be making no effort to seek entry fees (at least at the town and smeaton gates). Indeed they have a sign at the town end saying free parking. Perhaps they just earn money via the facilities. On the other hand, I think the town gate may now close at 7pm. I've not yet been stopped by that but have seen what looked liked preparations to close. No obstructions to cyclists but there's a closed gate and bypass path which would stop cars.
