I've often thought it's a bit silly how many signs there are for such a quiet area, but as the council says it seems necessary without designating "official" parking over driveways (you can imagine the EEN fury that would unleash.) </p> <p>I'm not really clear on the history of having restricted parking here - presumably parts of it are a good place to park for getting into town or a nearby employer. The bays/lines distinction seems clear in Edinburgh but a bit arbitrary - is there a legal restriction that prevents them single-yellow-lining the whole road with the permit/pay and display restriction?
