Frog are IMO aiming at a similar market and much lower in price, though my daughter's bike cost the same as my commuter bike.

They are also available to try in shops (e.g. the one we got minipaddy's in Kinross).

Not likely to change to Islabikes

Islabikes did recently email all purchasers and stick a warning up on their website warning folks not to get up to any fancy business (stunts, jumps etc.) on their bikes in case of catastrophic failure, following presumed isolated incidences thereof. I never had a response to my question about whether normal-weight children of an age applicable to the bike size going along cobbled streets could constitute risky or improper use.

I was about to get a bit shirty at the suggestion that Islabikes were just for introducing kids to cyclesport.

But I now see that it's Islabike's Pro series that is aimed at cyclesport.

The ordinary range do marvelously as utility or transport bikes (and no doubt well at club cycling too judging by the bikes of ERC Juniors), and whilst expensive for a child's toy, are an effective, robust and well designed means of transport!

Do they have a complimentary line of Rapha / Vulpine / Meccanica clothing?

(just had a loo at their website and everything is expensive)

£800 bike for a four year old! Although my inner Calvinist is warming up the brimstone, I have to doff my cap to them for the sheer brass neck (which is sold as an accessory for an extra £400).

http://www.cyclesprog.co.uk/bikes/islabikes-pro-series-cycle-show-2016

I like Islabikes - preowned ones via eBay.

These are undoubtedly for lucky kids with not too poor grand/parents.

Some will just be used as 'a bike', but they really are 'introduction to cyclesport' bikes (perhaps for those aiming for the Olympics in 10/20 years time!)

I hope some will be bought by clubs and councils too.
