Very nice technique. I employed similar if less sweary technique in street outsid FOPP last Friday to get previous customer to me to return to collect his bank card. Another customer asks if I used to be a policeman.

@SRD you're very welcome - for future reference, this is the technique I employed (parental advisory)

I can't help, but can empathise.

I have a now 12 month old Abus D lock attached to the sheffield at work. Key goes about 80% round, thats it. Various greases and lubs have been applied over the last 4 weeks. Nothing.

Infuriating but at least the bike wasn't atached to it at the time!

Thanks all who have offered advice/help here and otherwhere.

I have resolved immediate crisis which involved child with bike with puncture who needed to be elsewhere and by luck procured another lock to keep it safe over night - if attempts to free it before that unsuccessful.

again many thanks, SRD

I am not far away, but not sure what I could do, other than suggest the nuclear option of asking the Bike Station to remove your lock for, I think, £30.

The keys for newer Abus locks seem to be made of cheese and twist at the slightest hint of forcing. They are then impossible to extract.

Do you have another lock?

If you don't get any better offers, I could fetch you a (cheapish) D-lock so that you can leave your bike safely locked there until you think of a better solution. Only a ten minute walk home to fetch it.
