Do incident numbers get recorded when an appointment is made or when a statement is taken?

It could also have been reported later after someone was advised to go to the police.

Possibly. From the incident number, I was rather assuming it was reported to the police on 31/03. Hence wondering where the 16th window had come from.

It is very specific. That route up Gladsmuir is regularly used by a few cycling club for training/racing so I wonder if that's why this section was targeted?

"Suspect it's not the whole path - unless CEC sold it to them!"

I was in contact with both CEC and Tesco regarding the building works relating to a house which was built just next to the bridge where the dirt-track starts. Both seemed to confirm that the Tesco owned the whole dirt-track from the bridge to the store.

I will see if I can get a map from them to confirm.

I recently had some correspondence with the (now) owners Tesco. They know that they own this land but don't seem particularly interested in upgrading it.

Should be easier with Tesco? At least one of their shops acknowledges the existence of cyclists (albeit whilst simultaneously blocking their view and interfering with their panniers with their "
Hello
" sign) and they don't even have their glass-shattering bins right beside the cycle path access, unlike the similarly path-spur-accessible Co-op at Queen's Southferry.

Been going on for 30 years (probably longer).

Big standoff between council and Safeway about ownership.

(Both surprisingly reluctant to take responsibility!)

Plans to increase size of store which might have had upgrading of path as 'planning gain' never got approved.

Sustrans decided it was easier/better to take route towards Queensferry via quiet side road and narrow cut-through.

Just more proof that Edinburgh isn't really an activetravel city.

@gibbo I think it was the non-tarmaced section that goes straight on when the tarmac goes right - I rarely go that way but I think that's the stretch you mean as I think there's a Tesco at the other end.

thank you for your efforts @gibbo.

You're welcome. I happen to walk from DM to Craigleith (and back) about once a week.

Whenever I do, I look out for glass on the path and kick it to the verges when I see any.

(So, if you see some nutter who looks like he's kicking fresh air, that might be me.)

In a better world(/city), the council would employ someone to do this.

Many times in the past, I've reported it to west team/east team/council, but despite promising to look into it, they rarely bother.

A normal dustpan-brush is small enough to fit into most bags.
My plastic snow shovel (ideal for scraping away leaf-mulch from path edges in late autumn) comes in two parts which screw together, which would be a good arrangement for a pannierable brush for faster glass-clearance. Be careful your bristles aren't too springy as I once had a wee glass splinter ping back towards me from a lamppost and draw a very small amount of blood when sweeping a carpet of glass away from the bottom of the slope up to Hawthornvale.

I was walking along Blackhall Path this morning and saw a number of clusters of large tacks.

I think I kicked them all into the grass verges, but I might have missed some. And, even if I got them all, I suspect there'll be more on the path within the next few days.

Take care.

PS A few days ago, the bridge from the end of Corbiehill Ave (that leads down to the path) was covered in glass.

I kicked most of that into the verges, but I saw some more there again today.
