Since I was last here, the path via craigleith hill crescent has been improved , but the. Once you try to head around the north of the Anne Ferguson Bldg via the car parks, there's a sign saying 'all cyclists must dismount'.

Why? There are pedestrian routes painted on, but it's mainly just narrow roads. Presume 10mph , lots of bumps. Can't see any reason for cyclists to be on foot.

Handy thread, thanks. I discover that the 'getting to Western General' booklet has a 'by air' but not 'by bike' section: http://www.nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk/goingtohospital/locations/documents/western_map.pdf

OpenStreetMap shows the same set of parking as above and confirms the location of the Neurology Building - http://osm.org/go/evfLHYynz--?m=

According to photo in above link -

"

Cyclists Must Dismount Prior To ENTRY

"

Presume because of barrier. Perhaps it should have a bike bypass.

There are racks right by the front door of DCN and others round the corner which you can see in Frenchy's photo.

If the neurology department is where I think it is, then these racks are pretty handy:

link

I think the neurology building is just at the southern end of that car park.

Don't know about the south-west corner but there are eight or so under cover in the newish multi-level car park and a fair few around the central courtyard south of the Anne Ferguson building.
