I used the Flickr2BBcode app. The lite version doesn't allow you to change image size. The paid version (£1.59) does. I wouldn't say it's perfect but it seemed to work

On Android you can't get the BBcode from the app and you can't get the text from the full website through Chrome, so I use Firefox to retrieve the code to paste into CCE on Chrome.

I eventually got round to going round the hill on the singlespeed. It wasn't a definite calendrical aim, but I didn't do it during the first year of singlespeed-ownership.

“I got the bbcode link via a free app from Flickr. It only allows one size. I'm not sure whether the paid version does different sizes.”

Which OS/app?

Used to be able to copy the Flickr code on iOS/Safari, but a past iOS update stopped that.

Now use full Flickr website (iPad, no longer seems possible on iPhone) and click through to size I want (500) and copy url.

Annoying!

Deep sigh. I've done the maths, and I need to do 188 extra miles (not counting the ones I'm already committed to because of commuting to work) between now and the end of the year to achieve my mileage target for 2017.

A mega-epic (for me) ride starting on Friday afternoon after work and continuing all night would be sufficient [work to Carnwath on A70. Carnwath to Berwick Upon Tweed via Biggar and A701, Berwick home via Coldingham, Dunbar and North Berwick], but a look at the long range weather forecast for the end of the week suggests that it's going to be frosty, and I'm not mad enough to go on a long overnight ride when there's a risk of ice.

So I'm resignedly at this point going to say 'I'm out', and recognise that I've achieved all the 2017 goals I'm going to.

Time to start planning 2018...

paddyirish. It's not the best time of year to be trying to add many extra miles to your total. If you have fewer commutes then you'll just have to make each one count for more (although that's easier said than done).

amir, thanks. Although I can never repeat the first achievement I'll be repeating the second one soon.

I've reached my standard distance target but temptingly have just 220 or miles to reach 12,000 km (apologies for mixed metrics but does it matter?). Let's see if the weather and Christmas guests allow this.

The 100000 vertical metres was achieved last week. I'm going to miss out on my 10000km goal by ~300km - I expect a slightly lower than last year. My own fault for not doing enough May-October...

Realistically the last year I can go for that goal- I have fewer commutes next year, so very frustrating.

I need to get a 100km ride and climb another 4000m to get December's Strava Challenges.

"I plan to ride my first century this year. I've not decided if it will be an event of just a leisure ride yet.

I also plan to teach someone to ride their first 100m. They don't know it yet but being 3.5 and competent on a balance bike means they won't have much choice when the time is right."

I ticked off both my goals earlier in the year but if it isn't too late to add another I'm aiming for 60 bike commutes by the end of the year. That means of the days I have left in the office I can only miss one more bike day before the end of December.

I'm on course to get one target of 100000 vertical metres. However, I'm currently 120km behind on my 10000km target, but it's really worse than that as I am not likely to ride my bike after 22nd December, so I'll need to add an extra 250km before then to cover that.

A difficult task, but I'll have fun trying.

My 2017 goal was twofold and I can confirm that the first of those folds has been achieved to my grudging satisfaction.

Now, the second part is something that I know absolutely nothing about. I'm pretty sure that without the support of two of the CCE community I might well not have embarked on it, but I am about to. One of those people introduced me to someone I could never otherwise have hoped to interact with. Success is not at all inevitable, but then I've never learned that much much from succeeding.

CCE is not a bicycle forum, or not just a bicycle forum, it is a kind of modern-day enlightenment coffee-house vaguely themed on cycling. Long may it prosper.

I need to average 100 miles per week for the rest of the year if I am to achieve my target mileage for the year. This is annoyingly close to being achievable, but also annoyingly out of reach, given what I know about the weeks when I won't be able to ride a bike at all. Last year @Hankchief and I did an emergency ride on Hogmanay to achieve our respective targets: I don't think that will be sufficient this year.

On the other hand, after a short discussion with Mrs G today, I'm still on track to manage a century+ ride every month for the year.

"300 days on a bike
My longest ever ride
A century ride every calendar month
5,000 miles overall
And a little less time cycle campaigning.

I am tempted by LEL2017 but that would be a big ask..."

By the time I cycle home today I will have ticked off my 5,000 mile target and with 272days on the bike so far it looks good to hit 300 before the year is out :-)

LEL answered my longest ride but sadly put pay to my monthly centuries as I've needed to catch up on domestic duties. My 8 rides on my fast bike averaged 240miles though.

Cycle campaigning, hmmm. It seems to be having the desirable impact (in places), so I'll take that as a win too.

I didn't set a target mileage this year, preferring for the more abstract target of doing some enjoyable rides. This has certainly been going well this year. But perhaps due to the reasonable weather this year, I have passed my usual annual target with 3 months to go :) So a PB is in sights (probably next month).

717 miles so far this year, managed 2 'pleasure' rides in the last 2 weeks. I've got 300 to go to beat last years total, but about 100 behind where I was this time last yaer.
