Finally my brute force overcame my nervousness of breaking the lens and I got the thing apart.

https://twitter.com/dougalstanton/status/960216857612554245

The lens was glued down all the way round the rim, with the top section having a fairly wide contact area and requiring a lot of persuasion. More when track down other bits and have a go at soldering it together properly.

Rose bikes are sending me a replacement. They have not asked for the broken one back. I will attempt to play with it when I know it's not my main light. Who knows, maybe I'll end up with a spare.

Let me go and check mine... I've opened a few of mine to change the bolt but usually put a translucent ziptie round them afterwards as I've also lost a couple of lenses...

I have an issue with my light which I'm sure I could easily fix if I can work out a safe way to get at the PCB. There's a sort of black plastic clip over the top which suggests to me that with a force in the right direction it will all disassemble cleanly. Of course a force in the wrong direction might be disastrous. Anyone done this before?
