Yes, the outbound sign was back this evening :-(
I ignored it, and will continue to do so. I was easily able to keep up with a queue of traffic following a bus, anyway.

One sign had blown over yesterday, this was the other one.

I have a feeling that when a lane closure is over a certain distance, "cyclist dismount" signs are required. Same rules that if over a longer distance, must use convoy system. Don't ask me where I got this from though.

It's similar to the works in Fountainbridge which were there for months & there was no sign. Light-controlled single lane. No big deal, just a little disconcerting the first time you come across it. There's a good long time for each lane to move, so everyone gets through.

Makes the road easier to cross as well.

Having had another look this evening, I don't think the signs are anything to do with accessing the Lidl path but are there so that the all-important motorist isn't inconvenienced by having to slow down for some pleb on a bike. On a section of road that will have a 20mph speed limit at the end of the month...

I came along there this evening east to west & did dismount & walked along the pavement. About half the cyclists I saw did the same as the barricades look formidable and fortress-like. Can't see any real reason for the sign though.

I didn't see any signs coming out of Murieston Crescent this morning but the reduction of lanes at the Haymarket end of Dalry Road had vehicles backed-up to Maplin. Wonder if any will evaporate over the course if the works...

Noticed the signs yesterday evening - as I'm going straight up and down the Dalry Road I won't be dismounting, thank you very much. I assume, as gowgowuk says, that it is to do with cyclists wanting to access the path round the back of Lidl. I see quite a few cyclists doing this.

Confused by the signage this morning. Going in the SW direction (from Lidl towards Murieston Crescent), there is a "Cyclist dismount" sign. Is this only for the cyclist wanting to take the cycle path at the back of Lidl, or cyclist going along Dalry Road? I dismounted, walked on the pavement, but then there is no crossing to go into Murieston Crescent... (not sure I am explaining clearly, but hopefully someone will understand what I mean)

There are signs up on the Dalry and Gorgie Roads about roadworks and the road being closed. Is there somewhere on the Council website where one can find out more?
