That article's a bit mashed up. The old more expensive version is with the Reynolds 853 tubes with modular dropout. That's the one that the Rohloff still uses. The new ~£2000 version is the one with Columbus/Dedacciai tubes.

I've had one (105 with hydraulic brakes) for about a year and I love it. Great climber, especially out of the saddle, and very stable on rough downhills. Always gets described as a fun bike to ride and I thought that would be at a speed compromise, but it really isn't.

Rohloff cabling - double trouble from a neatness point of view with its push pull system. That said you do get internal hub gears that really index (in the hub).
Sold a Challenge Seiran Rohloffed recliner a while back and it had all cables in frame. An uncommonly neat, uncommon bike.
Shand's finish and colours are superb though. On the Rohloff I did wonder how they would fit a shifter. They mount a large twist shifter up top which may not appeal to those used to having hands-on STI.

"...we fit the US made Co-Motion Rohloff shifter that works across a wide range of drop bars with a 31.8mm stem clamp. The simple two-piece design fits easily onto the top of the bars and incorporates a double O-ring seal to keep things working smoothly in wet and dusty conditions. The bigger diameter grip section also makes the shifting action lighter than the standard shifter."

Lovely bike, beyond my means but covet. When Steven Shand gave us the tour of the workshop the stouter was a wee but cheaper than that. The rohloff price will be higher? I will check shand website as guardian never known for accuracy with small details.

Still not cheap but shimano 105 version £2275 starting price.

Spinky! But, starting at £3,595 and using a discontinued brake set. Also spoiled by having the cable outers running down the front of the down tube - a pet peeve of mine.
