I took Cllr Brown on a tour of the Active Travel infra in Ward 3 yesterday.

It was a good chat and we missed most of the rain.

Lots to talk about from solving legacy issues to how to get the best from new developments.

Whilst it may not get immediate results on all the issues, it still felt worthwhile exercise.

It's so much more real if you are out there in person.

Let me know if you want any tips on running your own.

Very sad to see Karen (existing Labour councillor) go. She has been a good councillor and a definite positive to have on the transport committee.

Drum Brae / Gyle ward 3 - Council elections 2017

Candidates (bold indicates sitting councillors)

Robert Christopher ALDRIDGE (Scottish Liberal Democrats, robert.aldridge@edinburgh.gov.uk, @robertscsh, website): responded. If Robert Christopher ALDRIDGE is one of your candidates, why not get in touch?
Position on our asks:
Support for investment of 10% of transport budget — Yes
Support for high quality infrastructure — Yes
Support for removing local barriers — Yes
"More than happy to support. The 10 per cent commitment is in our manifesto"

Claire BRIDGMAN (Scottish National Party (SNP), claireb.snp@gmail.com, Facebook page): responded. If Claire BRIDGMAN is one of your candidates, why not get in touch?
Support for investment of 10% of transport budget — Yes

Mark BROWN (Scottish Conservative and Unionist, mark.brown@edinburghconservatives.org.uk, @Mr_Mark_Brown, Facebook page, website): responded. If Mark BROWN is one of your candidates, why not get in touch?
Position on our asks:
Support for investment of 10% of transport budget — No — "As an active walker myself, I do believe in sustained investment in cycling and walking. However, I do not support the allocation of 10% of the transport budget on cycling. The state of the roads with potholes and the likes is a priority to fix city-wide (one of the main topics on the doorsteps) which - when achieved, will benefit pedestrians, vehicle users and cyclists in equal measure."
Support for high quality infrastructure — Partial — "I do think Edinburgh would benefit from an ongoing review of its cycle paths and seek scope for more building further cycle paths. We must however have the capacity & financial resource to be able to build and crucially I feel, to maintain."

Support for removing local barriers — Partial — "There are several barriers to active travel across the city, the main one that has been brought to my attention during the campaign is the shocking state of our roads with the number of potholes."

Existing Lab Cllr not re-elected

Some issues

Roseburn-Ed Park link

Craigmount Steps
East Craigs Paths being illegal to cycle on
Lack of dropped kerbs in East Craigs
No cycle facilities on Maybury Road
