Darling said recently it is no longer left right it is nationalist unionist.

Ok simplification but he is at last waking up to labour being third party in Scotland.

Soon it will be 1950 with Winnie getting elected in Dundee if SNP and labour don't reach some sort of understanding. Corbyn is clearly willing and happier about that than dugdale or murray

"The Dugdale effect."

Which is?

Hard to know if Lab in Scotland would be doing better if she backed Corbyn wholeheartedly.

Labour (particularly in Scotland) doesn't know how not to do 'we hate the SNP' tribalism.

It's not pretty and it doesn't work (enough) for them.

Andrew Burns clearly managed to deal with SNP councillors.

How will whoever is now in charge manage over the weekend??

City Centre ward 11 - Council elections 2017

Candidates (bold indicates sitting councillors)

Karen DORAN (Scottish Labour Party, karen.doran@edinburgh.gov.uk, @karendoran3, Facebook page, website): not yet responded.

Claire MILLER (Scottish Green Party, claire.miller@edinburghgreens.org.uk, @clairehimiller, Facebook page, website): responded. If Claire MILLER is one of your candidates, why not get in touch?
Position on our asks:
Support for investment of 10% of transport budget — Yes — "I fully support this so that we can increase the number of journeys made by cycling and walking, and reduce the need for car journeys. I'm keen to ensure that cycling and walking budget is spent on the right projects which will help to make it safer, more convenient and easier to opt for active travel and leave the car at home."
Support for high quality infrastructure — Yes — "Here in Edinburgh I want to see the off-road cycle paths being joined up, as there are still some quite big gaps. I'm supportive of the schemes to create segregated cycle ways that make it safe for anyone to cycle, as cycling in traffic is still one of the big barriers to people cycling to work and school."
Support for removing local barriers — Yes — "I think it's really important to start with information provided by local residents and businesses, as these are the people who can tell you exactly how things currently work. Local people are the experts on what currently happens, and so they must be central in solving local barriers to active travel."

Jo MOWAT (Scottish Conservative and Unionist, Jo4citycentre@gmail.com, @jomowat, Facebook page, website): responded. If Jo MOWAT is one of your candidates, why not get in touch?
Position on our asks:
Support for investment of 10% of transport budget — Partial — "I support investment st these levels but not ringfencing the budget as this leads to anomalies about what gets done and categorisation becomes difficult and artificially skews spend - would like to see every road/pavement project address this and better accounting to make spend more transparent"
Support for high quality infrastructure — Partial — "Should be integrated into wider mobility network - nit at expense of pavements or potholed roads"
Support for removing local barriers — Yes — "I agree this approach of locally identified interventions to build the network and support amongst the community "

Alasdair RANKIN (Scottish National Party (SNP), alasdair.rankin@edinburgh.gov.uk, Facebook page, website): not yet responded.
