Southside / Newington ward 15 - Council elections 2017

Candidates (bold indicates sitting councillors)

Steve BURGESS (Scottish Green Party, steve.burgess@edinburgh.gov.uk, @steveamburgess, Facebook page, website): responded. If Steve BURGESS is one of your candidates, why not get in touch?
Position on our asks:
Support for investment of 10% of transport budget — Yes — "Edinburgh council is already at 10% of the net transport budget for cycling investment but needs a clearer vision about how this funding should be invested to create a cycle-friendly city."
Support for high quality infrastructure — Yes — "Cycling infrastructure is essential if more people are to be encouraged to get on their bikes especially in Cities where it doesn't feel safe to cycle."
Support for removing local barriers — Yes — "We certainly need greater pedestrian priority at some busy junctions, sometimes pedestrians have to wait for two cycles of traffic lights before they can cross."

Alison DICKIE (Scottish National Party (SNP), alison.dickie@edinburghsnp.org, @AlisonDickieSNP, Facebook page, website): responded. If Alison DICKIE is one of your candidates, why not get in touch?
"Via Twitter: I support it! It's what is needed to get more folks out walking & cycling."

Ian PERRY (Scottish Labour Party, ian.perry@edinburgh.gov.uk, Facebook page, website): responded. If Ian PERRY is one of your candidates, why not get in touch?
Position on our asks:
Support for investment of 10% of transport budget — Yes — "Labour will maintain spending on cycling at 10% of the Transport budget for the next five years to complete the east/ west link across the city centre and to build more segregated cycle lanes. We will also create a dedicated 'Budget for Walking' which will encourage more walking by installing more crossings, dropped kerbs and introducing more pedestrian zones."
Support for high quality infrastructure — Partial
Support for removing local barriers — Partial — "In relation to local projects, I will commit to ensuring the Edinburgh University to Kings Building cycleway is completed in the life time of the next council"
