About 30 litres overall I think, and generally excellent. I used an Osprey 25 before but would need to go quite a bit larger for the 17" laptop. The larger Timbuk2's probably a bit pricey for me but agree they look very well designed and made. I will take a look in Decathlon. Also saw one on Amazon for £25 by Roamlite which says it takes a 17" laptop. Never hear of them but might be worth a try.<br /> @gembo thanks for the kind offer. I actually have one of these types of bags though it is c24 years old from EBC! I was an early adopter! But I really want to avoid using a rack. These are designed to take laptops but I never thought about vibrations. I have one that I think is quite top end (the attachment that clips it to the rack is solid but you can remove it which is quite clever). I picked it up after spotting the massive reduction on here. I hav used it three times maybe, the number of times I have cycled to work and then the same day gone to London on the train or flown to Dublin in the afternoon. Handy for that and in the three times cited I took my iPad in a padded sleeve, inside the section in the bag for laptop. If tempted I can lend it to you to try to see if it is a solution to your bigger last top issue. If you like it you can keep it in X change for those shifters you kindly gave me. If you don't like it I can take it back. Let me know if u are interested.</p> <p>In general I cannot go a rucksack as I sweat profusely. However, I do like a Timbuktu messenger bag. </p> <p>Two small vaude made EBC PANNIERS I picked up for thirty quid wh n EBC sale used to have bargains. Is the way I roll,mthough no laptop they do cope with occasional iPad. The Talon range has so many sizes, I'm sure you can find the right one. Previous one was 15" and could easily fit into almost any of my rucksacks in a padded sleeve. I now need a new rucksack. Anyone got any recommendations or suggestions? It does not have to be cycle specific and I would prefer not to spend more than about £50-£60. There are lots out there but I am unsure if they can accommodate a 17" laptop. I could fit a pannier rack but would prefer not to-I don't like carrying laptops in pannier bags as they get the full vibration of the bike frame. </p>
