Not everyone is born to give good copy. </p> http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/topic.php?id=17928#post-255155 Sat, 15 Jul 2017 15:28:54 +0000 chdot 255155@http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/ <p>"Anyone else feel that Spokes go out of their way to praise the council for things that, in any civilised city would be regarded as below even minimum expectations?"</p> <p>Spokes tries to see the positive in what the Council/Gov does. </p> <p>The belief is that it encourages/supports 'cycling' when there are elements (officials/councillors) who would rather not do anything - especially if/when 'cyclists just complain'. </p> <p>This certainly means that Spokes has welcomed things like the QBiC, which are <em>far</em> from good. </p> <p>I think a lot of the change in attitude in recent years is due to the existence/success of PoP - partly by demonstrating that lots of people want things to be much matter and also because there are now more people willing to campaign/contact councillors/go to CCs/organise rides/vigils etc. </p> <p>Spokes is far from just complimentary though, and has always been critical of many aspects of design/implementation (particularly with the tram). </p> <p>The main problem is that there is no easy/quick fix.
