Harrison Road often goes into one way mode because of the parked cars. I mutter about this on my commute - that if those metal boxes weren't sitting there we could all be moving without impediment. I sometimes list in my mind all the problems caused by on street parking. In Edinburgh the roads are frequently wide, and without street parking there would be ample space for wide cycle lanes that, although not fully segregated, would hugely improve safety and comfort and quickly allow the establishment of a genuine cycling network.
