I have been told that just because [anything you might like to mention] has huge implications for Scotland it would be naive to assume that anyone preparing bills at a UK level would necessarily <strike>care</strike> notice.

@crowriver

It is, yes. But the implications are huge for 'transport' I'd have thought?

Have we all seen this;

https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/bills/cbill/2017-2019/0112/18112.pdf

Strange that it applies to Scotland despite 'transport' being 'devolved'. I'd have thought the presence of robotic vehicles would change the entire transport infrastructure. It might be necessary to restrict cyclists to cycle paths for instance. For their own safety.

M1 crash, horrendous. No sympathy from trucking fraternity for charged drivers. Still a very nasty approach to cyclists from many old school truck drivers but definitely changing, many younger drivers see old fat unfit guys and don't want to be that. Cycle and keep fit generally.as I drive trucks , I think I know how to deal with them but still some total ****holes out there! Good cheery wave from semi blackout ninja on queensferry road other night as I held back traffic to maintain safety of biker.

No doubt some will take this as a reason for driverless lorries -

Trains , yep been doing this for years. So who goes first, who decides where to go, who decides when the snow on the approaching road is too heavy and decides to take alternative route?? Er .... ittle just stop. Sorry this idea , is as previous comments mentioned, pants !! It's a cynical ploy by large, possibly" retail companies" who would create convoys of there own vehicles, taking over the world, while saving you money every day !! Besides, so many people will be out of a job , there will be no need for ships because no one will have a job and hence no money !! Doubt if this will become common any time soon ...,
10:10 , on the flip side good buddy

Breaker 1/9 we're in a great big convoy.

Lorries in middle America already drive in big gangs. This is just deleting the other drivers. They can go the equivalent of the length of Britain in a straight line and then there is a junction to do with curvature of the earth or time zones or not falling asleep.

In UK we have quite bendy motorways this will be pants 10/4

Plus when we have self-driving cars, they will be slipstreaming the lorries. A big motorised chain gang. The cars'll probably have to compensate the lorry fuel cost though.

It's called a train.

Yeah, but...you can see where they're coming from. Load up several wagons at a central depot and off they go in a Convoy. Near to the destination they can peel off to local sites. Trains can't do that. If it works, expect longer convoys, and then autonomously driven convoys.

10:4 buddy.

"Up to three lorries will travel in formation, with acceleration and braking controlled by the lead vehicle."

Hmm. Without wishing to be unfair to the 'innovators' and the road haulage industry, this miraculous phenomenon already exists. It's called a train.
