@unhurt We have that book. Indeed, we asked a friend to read Bike With No Hands for us at our wedding. It was marvelous.

Someone gave me this a few years ago. If I manage to make it to a PY or a not-PY I shall bring it with:

This is reminding me of Baldrick's great poem

German Guns

Boom, boom boom
Boom boom
Boom, boom, boom
Boom, boom

Chains by IWRATS Larkin

What are chains for?
Chains are how we ride.
They come, they take us
Time and time over.
They are to be ridden with:
How can we ride without chains?

Ah, solving that question
Brings a frame with a drop-out
And a Kevlar belt
Running over the cogs.

It's probably the chain
A quickly written short rubbish poem by ARobComp

Riding in France upon my fancy steed,
A nasty chain suck the bike did suffer,
And since then it's had a nasty fault,
From which it's been unable to recover

When climbing in the little ring,
And putting on some pressure.
My chain would on occasion kick up,
to ruin my hill climb leisure.

Into the garage said bike did go,
And so started the investigation game,
But no matter how hard I looked
The bast*rd problem remained the same.

I thoroughly cleaned and stripped the bladdy thing,
Top, bottom, side and sprockets
And worried that not finding the fault,
Would cost all the money in my pockets,

Hearing cursing out loud, the wife was summoned
And came out to shush the "fook"
Remarked did she "It's probably the chain"
So I bent to have a look.

Upon intense inspection the culprit was found
A tiny ding in a sliver of metal.
I whipped it out, now the chain runs true
The bike is in fine fettle.

I stood and stared, My mouth agape,
At the impact of such a tiny dent,
My roadie once again ready to go,
To West Scotland with my tent.
