"Surely you're NOT suggesting that CCE people meet in cafes!?"

Of course not, CCErs are fuelled by fresh fumes and adrenaline. Never any bean-based beverages.

"Do people have to bring their own 7yo?"

I have a spare 7yo you can borrow.

The seven year old says yes, he's up for it. And so am I.

Can we share tasks now or should we meet face-to-face first?

e.g.

I'll ask the seven year old when he gets home from school.

I'll also bring this up at the next Edinburgh Playing Out meeting in a couple of weeks. One of the key principles of playing out is no structured activities - just close the road and let kids get on with it. I'd propose it should be same for all ages...

My original Twitter video from Sunday suggesting this should be every month got over 100 likes within 24 hours. There certainly is support for this.

A seven year old spokesperson would be amazing!

Also, yes please, a reguarly car free city centre would be glorious. (I'd voluntarily cycle around the city centre a lot more - right now I cycle through it to get to other, less horrible on a bike, places.)

Response from @SteveAMBurgess (Transport committee) "Yes - could be a play street once a month. And what about making it permanent!"

Parking is still free on a Sunday pm. Is the city centre quiet on a Sunday? I'd aim for every Sunday? Buses being rerouted might need some detail? How often does Paris do this now?

But then I think medieval and Georgian Edinburgh city centre should be car free every day.

Certainly for it.
The Festival is crying out for a green corridor into city along George IV into city. We then would promote integration of cycling and walking jointly. No fences / logos required and break down the perception that one section of population is from different tribe etc.

I'd love it. The OH and I were discussing exactly this as we sat on the Meadows watching all the bikes go by. It could be moved around other areas so no residents are being bothered by it every month. Imagine the scenes if they closed Porty High Street etc to cars for the afternoon. But on, say, a mild Spring day I bet the tills would be ringing more than usual.
