Some Poles may set alarm bells going too - see current political shenanigans in Poland.

Guy might have been Polish. Some of the traditional Polish crosses may set alarm bells ringing here but lack the same connotations in Poland.

Yes. There's a whole heap of visually similar crosses that have multiple different meanings depending on if you're into Christian religion/Nordic paganism/motorcycling/white power or any other reasons. Some (lots of) people pick a tattoo design because they like it and no other reason and never bother to research what it might mean to someone else. While it may set off an instant alarm bell about the wearers beliefs and opinions, a cross on its own doesn't necessarily mean anything untoward.

If a council worker turns up at your house or place of business or education or whatever in the course of their duties with something overtly racist/fascist for which there's no other good explanation, that's an entirely different matter.

Nazi cross? No such thing.

There is a cross which was/is awarded to the German military as a medal. Also the emblem of the current Luftwaffe.

So, it may have offended you, but I dare to suggest you may have got hold of the wrong end of the stick (or cross).

If I were you, I'd chalk this up to experience and perhaps do more research into symbolic imagery... :)

Maltese cross is also used by Malteser international, which is a German charity similar to the Red Cross.

I would do nothing. Whilst being extremely unpalatable, there is nothing in our law which makes the wearing or displaying of these symbols illegal.

People are allowed to be an *rse on their own time, wheather liberally minded people agree with them or not.

Iron Cross?

Now back in use: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Cross#Post.E2.80.93World_War_II

Context and what (if anything) is in the middle are both kind of relevant mind...

Was cycling away from ASDA in Leith this afternoon when I saw a man wearing a City of Edinburgh Council vest getting into an Astra with a Nazi cross sticker on the back. Then drove off (smoking, I might add) with young kid in the car.

I should point out that the cross symbol did not have a Swastika in the middle, so perhaps a mere sign of his keen interest in Germanic military history. But bigotry seems more likely.

What would you do?
