by the time we left this afternoon, there were friendly police stopping traffic at the roundabout so we could get across.

first PFS for micro and me. Second for mini and Mr Srd. good day, despite the rain.

Micro-chased everyone up the hills (and dropped me), but was hugely under-geared on his frog 20 on the flats. Poor guy - legs spinning like whirligigs.

Well done to all those taking part.

I noticed a few cyclists heading up path beside the Eastbound on slip (which runs out by the wee house leaving you with the choice in going on the dual carriageway, trying to cross the DC or retracing your steps) You'd have thought that with a but if foresight a big sign could have been put up...

In the end up a kind friend offered to take me+bike so I got a few more minutes in bed this morning!

Lovely ride and stayed dry. Great atmosphere and quite a sense of achievement for some riders in our group (age 11 - 15). We did the Wee Jaunt but obviously the big event riders were sharing the road with us so you have little toddlers wobbling around while some really fast people whiz past. Most were really considerate but a few were a bit tetchy and shouted at some of the youngsters in our group. I can understand how frustrating it must be but it's supposed to be fun!

It didn't put them off though, they were talking about doing the whole thing next year!

crowriver "roundabout crossings on airport road are presumably still awful." YES. Terrible. Lots of people + bikes waiting for a brief break in traffic to cross, particularly at the roundabout closest to the park and ride. A zebra crossing would surely be better at these junctions?

"They offered a haymarket - ingliston tram journey though"

No.1 son and I used this last year, it worked well - special trams laid on just for bikes. Only problem was getting back to the tram after the event from Ingliston show ground. Dreadful shared use path! Maybe it's improved a bit now, but the roundabout crossings on airport road are presumably still awful.

No! They offered a haymarket - ingliston tram journey though, which you had to book at the time of ticket purchase. I wish I'd done it at the time but I didn't want to use up a space that I might not actually need/want.

I would probably use the E dinburgh Park underpasss and avoid those roundabouts - http://cycle.travel/map/journey/50312

You also have the option nowadays of going through the underpass at Edinburgh Gateway station (turn right after Gyle centre). Then double back, up ramp to shared use footpath on north side of the horrible junction. Thence to Gogar, over the bridge, etc.

From the Balgreen tram stop take the right-hand railway line to Pinkhill. The route to Ingliston is then sign posted as Quiet Route 9. It stays 1 block South of the Corstorphine/St John's/Glasgow road before heading to the Northside at the Jaguar garage and back to the Southside at RBS Gogarburn before finally back to the Northside at the Airport Junction.

The signposting isn't too bad these days but keep your eyes open as it does wiggle about a bit.

If it's a quiet route then Quiet Route9 will do. follow the Pinkhill path from the tram stop and take the back streets of Corstorphine to go through Gyle Park. Cross Glasgow Road at the toucan to get to Dechmont Road then left on to North Gyle Terrace then use the signalled crossing to get across Maybury. That will take you into the cycle path out to Ingliston.

Yes, It's for Pedal for Scotland. I know a fairly good route to Broomhouse using the Balgreen tram path but after that it seems a bit scary and peppered with massive roundabouts which give me the fear...

Hi there and sorry if this has been done before!

I'm going to cycle to the Park and Ride at Ingliston tomorrow morning from the Shandon area and wondered if there was a good route someone could recommend?

I have never cycled out that way from Corstorphine and in my experience of driving it, I don't recall thinking it was bike-friendly - but maybe there's a parallel cycle route?

Thank you
