Apparently they have had to involve the Police due to repeated incursions into their worksite.</p> <p>They do recognise that cyclists will use the route and accept the safest way is for us to (dismount &amp;) use the pavement to cross the road. They will maintain a pedestrian crossing at this point throughout the work.</p> <p>I have to admit, that having it all done by next week was a surprise to me, but just shows how quickly they can work when the set to it. Given the short time period I think it is an acceptable solution.</p> <p>There is several learnings from this that they have accepted. Probably the biggest is that they need to be considering cycle routes when they plan disruption to our streets.</p> <p>Amazingly it didn't come up when they went through all the planning with Edinburgh Council. Today they have made them into a squarish diamond that only blocks the left/exit side of Dovecot &amp; Meadowplace Roads. </p> <p>However, Yesterday they used the 4 bits of fencing to make a flat diamond that blocked the whole roadway.</p> <p>Let's see what they do on Monday. Which as you say, you can negotiate round but isn't ideal. (The good people on Corstorphine FB page were a bit flummoxed by it but the general consensus was just to drive round the cones).</p> <p>The picture on Twitter late morning had a Herras fencing diamond blocking the entire roadway of Dovecot Road. The barriers are across one side of each junction now but this means that you may find yourself heading straight towards a vehicle with little to no room available to bail out. Assuming you had time to react anyway...
