Quite a bit is on road think I got lost the last time I did it. Remember some sort of funny pub. But when went back did not get lost. Do have the NCN 75 route map.so should be ok. At one point there is also a route to EK. Won't take that route.

Hmmmmm… I'd have to admit I don't use cycle routes much…

I know, I'm in trouble now. I've even abandoned much of the one I use every year on the Isle of Wight. Cowes to Newport is OK but the section to Sandown is a bit rough and I had the S2L-X there this year.

I used to use the old railway line in Partick but mostly to see the old railway bits and bobs, similarly I use the canal for historical interest. High PSI and 349mm on cobbles isn't fun. They took a section out of the railway track near Thornwood and I've rarely used it since then. I did use a bit from McDs to Cambuslang a few months ago. I saw some things I'd not seen before but I used the road going home.

There is a tricky junction on the road just west of the Dog's Trust. You should be OK but cars coming down from Mt Vernon can be confused.

Ok so long as no one tries to take a detour and turn NCN route 75 into carmageddon

No worse than usual, if the cones are still there then the motor traffic will be really slow.

Some sections of the river bank were closed because the weir at the Green broke. They were worried about the path, and even the boat house, falling into the river. Don't know how far upstream it went or if it's mended now.

M74 roadworks? There were cones near the Dog's Trust last week. I've not been down there since then.

I did watch a chap with very nice carradice swinging from his saddle NOT take the first left along Waterloo street as I did because it dumps you at the road next to the river but with no way to cross, except get off push along the pavement then use pedestrian lights whereas the next left further along Waterloo street you end up at a cycle / pedestrian junction. I was on the cycle path on Waterloo street for three yards.

I am taking the same early morning slow train to Glasgow this Friday and weather permitting cycling from Uddingston to Parkhead. Does anyone know if the traffic has now all gone from the NCN route 75 as the M8 roadworks are finished? I thought I still spotted some cArs last Friday.

If you're already in Central then you could go to the low level and get the train to Exhibition Centre station. Of course that doesn't work if the Centipede is shut.I think there is something going on there, I was near it today but didn't cross.

There is a cycle lane on Waterloo St which takes you to the former bridge to no where. You can then go along the north side of the Express Way but you might need the Centipede to cross the motorway. You could cross the motorway on a bridge near Anderston station then go down to the river.

There were path closures several weeks ago due to a motor event at the SECC. CCG thread here: https://citycyclingglasgow.com/topic/83/secc-orange-tube-closed-4-7-aug-2017/3. I think pedestrians were worst affected.

2 single lane bidirectional carriageways is confusing to cross. There is an accident hotspot at the Smart bridge to city centre crossing where you cross in 3 stages, 2 of which are two lane carriageways and 1 (fastlink) is single bidirectional. You see many people breaking the crossing by just crossing out-with the official crossing. Attempts at "fixing" it has been adding more barriers, thereby removing the safe refuge points people could use to wait on.

@emuir, all good, I am from the west and know Glasgow central well. I was just wondering if the path was clear as lot of roadworks etc last time I was through.

Nearly died of course on that mental bridge which looks like a dual carriageway but is in fact two bidirectional roads separated by a small central reservation.

I say nearly died, just did not see the big yellow lorry bearing down, it was far enough awAy for me to make the central reservation.

On way back I alighted at Livingston south. Went on mad circular cycle round some off road and increasingly muddy paths then found route to Midcalder. Strong wind blowing.

Yes, down to the Clyde and follow the Clyde path West. I wouldn't use the squinty bridge but continue along the north side to Bell's bridge and cross there. It's a ped/cycle bridge.

Getting down to the Clyde from Central station might not be pleasant though and watch out for the steps under King George V bridge. You need to take the street level toucan crossing.

Anything wrong there?
